Pregnancy Planning & Fertility
Nurturing the Journey.
Thinking of plunging into parenthood? You may be surprised that it’s not always as simple as you hope. There may be some unexpected health hiccups and hurdles along the way.
Venus Women’s Clinics have the expertise needed to help you navigate the challenges of falling pregnant, pregnancy, labour and childbirth.
Planning for Pregnancy
Prior to falling pregnant, you’ll need to take stock of your health. This is best done in the 3 to 6 months prior to pregnancy. A preconception consultation with one of the team from Venus Women’s Clinics is the best way to access expert advice on preparing for pregnancy. This advice will cover a range of topics to help optimise your health, including:
- Taking folic acid and iodine supplements to provide great health outcomes for your growing baby
- Assess your current eating habits, aiming to follow a well-balanced diet plan.
- Avoiding alcohol and smoking.
- Getting a clear picture of your family medical history, so that you can be prepared for potential issues that could affect your pregnancy
- Getting up to date with any vaccinations or screening tests.
- Learning about your monthly cycle and when in your cycle you will most likely fall pregnant
- Learning about your options if you have trouble falling pregnant.
- Understanding your childbirth options, including antenatal shared care.
